Windows Laptop
Using Chrome Remote Desktop
It may be possible for technology support to assist students working remotely by using Google’s Chrome Remote Desktop application. Chrome Remote Desktop can allow technology support staff remote access to your Windows laptop. They would then have full access to help troubleshoot the device.
The following steps will only work if using a Chrome browser, or Microsoft Edge browser. Both browsers support Chrome extensions.
- In the browser URL bar at the top, type http://remotedesktop.google.com/support, and press Enter.
- Under Get Support, if there is a Download button, click the button and following the directions to Install the extension
- Under Get Support, select Generate Code.
- Copy the code and give it to the support person to have access to the Chromebook.
- When support enters the access code on their side, a dialog with their e-mail address will appear.
- Select Share to allow support full access to the Chromebook.
- Once troubleshooting has completed, end the sharing session by clicking Stop Sharing.
